Singapore Athletics’ Athletes selected for 32nd SEA Games
We are pleased to announce the selection of our talented athletes for Team Singapore at the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2023, which will take place in Cambodia this year. We extend our warmest congratulations to these athletes, who have shown their hard work, dedication, and commitment to Athletics.
The SEA Games is a highly-anticipated sporting event that brings together athletes from all over Southeast Asia to compete against each other in various disciplines. Athletics has always been an integral part of the games, and Singapore has a proud history of participating in this event.
In the 2021 SEA Games held in Vietnam, Singapore won one gold medal, three silver medals, and seven bronze medals in athletics events. Five national records were set and eight personal best performances were also recorded. This is SA’s best performance since 1993.
Arthur Lin, SA Vice President (Training & Selection), said: “Our athletes are an inspiration to us all, demonstrating time and again that they have the dedication, passion, and drive to compete at the highest level and make our nation proud. As they continue their preparations for the SEA Games, we wish them all the best in their pursuit of excellence. Their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to their sport serve as a shining example to the younger generation, inspiring them to dream big and pursue their own passions. We also recognize that the support of family and loved ones is crucial in the success of our athletes. Let us all show our support for our athletes as they represent our nation and compete against the best in the region”.
Lien Choong Luen, SA President, said: “We would also like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the coaches, trainers, and support staff who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help our athletes achieve their goals. Their efforts are invaluable and have contributed greatly to the success of our athletes. We are confident that our athletes will continue to make Singapore proud in the SEA Games 2023, and we wish them all the best in their upcoming competitions. We encourage all Singaporeans to rally behind our team and show their support by cheering them on as they compete on the regional stage. Together, let us celebrate the hard work and achievements of our athletes and inspire the next generation of young Singaporeans to pursue their dreams”.
As we eagerly anticipate the upcoming edition of the games, SA is fully committed to supporting our athletes in their preparations towards achieving yet another impressive showing. To this end, we have put in place programmes designed to provide the necessary support and resources needed to help our athletes excel. Our team is fully focused on helping our athletes reach their full potential, and we are confident that our collective efforts will result in a successful campaign.
