1. General Information
Singapore Athletics (SA) intends to select and send athletes for the 25th Asian Athletics Championships 2023 under Team Singapore. This is subjected to potential Singapore’s Covid-19 measurements, if any.
2. Selection criteria
Met SA’s Entry Standard within the qualifying period. See Table 1 as below.
This will be a self-funded competition & those who qualifies for SA OCTC grant.
3. Qualifying Period
The qualifying period will be from 16 May 2022 to 16 May 2023.
Sanctioned meets & results established under legal wind speed condition will only be accepted.
The qualifying period is subject to change.
4. Key Dates
• Preliminary entry deadline – TBC
• Final entry deadline - TBC
• Tentative travel date – 10 to 17 July 2023
• Competition dates – 12 to 16 July 2023
5. Eligibility for nomination
-
• Athlete must be a Singapore Citizen at the time of nomination.
• Final decision on selection will be made by SA Selection Committee, as the body that sets the selection criteria and makes the final selection of athletes for the competition.
• No one younger than 16 years old may participate.
• Athletes will be required to compete at any identified competitions for fitness and performance monitoring at least 4 months before competition dates. These will include SA organized competitions or any other sanctioned competitions.
• It is the responsibility of the athlete and coach to ensure athlete is ready to compete at a competitive level for Team Singapore. SA reserves the right to drop any athlete if the athlete is deemed unfit/injured to perform at a competitive level.
• All qualification attempts are to comply with World Athletics shoe regulations.
• No 5km and 10km road races results will be accepted.
