Daniel Lim and Ow Si Xing has been selected to represent the Republic at the 2016 Mokpo International Throwing Athletics Meeting.
They both will be competing in the junior men javelin 800gm (PB 52.49) and junior discus 1kg women (PB 36.85) respectively.
They will be accompanied by Team Manager Akid Chong.
They will be departing from Changi Airport 8am on 1 September.

High Performance Sports (HPS) Department of SSI will be conducting 2 information sessions for athletes, parents, coaches and NSA personnel who are interested in the spexScholarship programme for 2017.
Interested athletes, parents and coaches can register with us for one of these two workshops. Interested applicants have to RSVP their attendance with SDP at SAA by 1200hr Friday, 2 September 2016.

Eligibility & Assessment Criteria for interested applicants set by SSI for consideration:
ELIGIBILITY
In order to be eligible for the spexScholarship, athletes must be:
-
· Singapore citizens who are of good character
· spexCarded athletes endorsed by their NSA
· Demonstrate potential for further development along the HPS Pathway
· Able to commit to the demands of a full-time training load
· In medal contention for major games (SEA Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games & Olympic Games) and world level events
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA FOR spexSCHOLARSHIP
-
a . Training Commitment: Training volume profile (> 12 months) of the athlete will be benchmarked against the volume of a full-time training load specific to their sport i.e.10-12 sessions or about 20-30hrs per week
b. Sports Performance: Sports performance track record (>12 months) will be benchmarked against the standards of the medallists (Gold, Silver and Bronze) at the respective major Games. For example, an athlete at the Asian Games level will be benchmarked against the standards at the Asian Games or equivalent competition.
c. Attitude & Behaviour: This will come in the form of character reference from Coaches / administrators / peers and, if necessary, independent character reference. SSI Sport Psychologists will also be present during the interview sessions.
d. Performance and Laboratory tests: Such tests will be conducted only when necessary and on a case-by-case basis. For example, aerobic capacity test to differentiate the potential between two endurance athletes; cognitive performance and motor skill tests for skill-based sports.
Note: Athletes who signed up for the sessions does not automatically qualify for the nomination send by SAA.
SAA will have the right to select and nominate the athlete(s) who is/are deemed suitable for the spexSCHOLARSHIP’s application(s).

- For participants who register without a club, affiliate, payment have to reach Singapore Athletic Association by 2nd September 2016, 2359 hours.
- There will be no refund of entry fees for any withdrawal/no show after the closing date & event is cancelled due to bad/wet weather on the event day itself.
- ALL LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED
- Acknowledgement will be sent via email upon receipt of entries. Hence, please ensure that a valid email address is submitted in your entry form. Kindly inform SA immediately if you do not receive any confirmation within 3 working days of your submission of entries.
- Please be aware that all athletes who wish to participate in the events would have undergone training prior and be in good physical condition to compete in the events that they participate in. Athletes are advised to undergo medical check - up where necessary and to refrain from the participation in the event if in doubt of their physical condition.
- Even though SA will endeavor to provide adequate medical facility and aid for the event, SA and its organisers, sponsors and officials expressly deny their liability and will not be responsible for any mishap before, during or after the event resulting in injury or death.
- All athletes will need to provide age verification documentation (eg. Passport) to the organisers and allow their image to be taken by official photographer during competition for organisers use.
- Athletes are allowed to compete only in 1 category only for the event/events.

Selection Criteria
Please submit your interest by 8th September 2016.
Selection is based on Selection of Overseas meet for 2016.
Only Singapore citizen are nominated for this competition.
Last Minute Withdrawal (more than 3 days after SAA announced Final List)
In the event that the selected athletes decided to withdraw (prior to the departure/did not compete at all) due to injury or other reasons (unless clash of events), the athlete have to bear the full cost (air tickets, insurances, accommodation or other costs) that SAA have paid for the trip.
Please adhere to the following selection policy and criteria set by SAA:
Note: Overseas meets requests are for Open invitational meets and do not include qualifying for meets such as SEA Youth, Asian Junior, SEA Games, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.

Please submit your interest to SAA (SAA) once the overseas meet information is published and window is open.
Please also be reminded to strictly adhere to any stipulated closing date for submission for each meet.

Season’s Best 2016: Performance and Which Competition
Based on the quota given by the organizer (on a meet by meet basis), SAA will send any Singaporean athlete who meets the Senior, Junior and Youth qualifying mark.
Conditions
When only 2 Athletes per country are allowed to be entered per event and if more than 2 athletes meet the qualifying marks, the top 2 ranked athletes within the qualifying window period will be nominated.
All SAA sanctioned competition results will be considered for nomination.
All athletes who are nominated and selected will have to attend all Team Training, Briefing & Camps.
Field equipment transportation to airport within Singapore is to be settled by Athlete.
SAA reserves the right to drop any qualified Athlete if the Athlete is deemed unfit to perform at a competitive level.
SAA uses IAAF Scoring Tables of Athletics for its selection criteria. Links to the 2014 edition is as below:
Apply for Sanction
Athletes interested to go under club are advised to seek sanction from SAA prior to competition. Please send an email to SAA to apply for sanction.
Competition Format
All track events for 100m to 400m, 100m Hurdles/110m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 800m and 4x100m will be contested at heats/semi Final and final stages.

1.1 Five (5)Heats
The best 2 athletes from each heat and the best 6 fastest time clocked will compete in the semi finals.
1.2 Four (4)Heats
The best 3 athletes from each heat and the best 4 fastest time clocked will compete in the semi finals.
1.3 Three (3) Semi Finals
The best 2 athletes from each heat and the best 2 fastest time clocked will compete in the finals.
1.4 Two (2) Semi Finals
The best 3 athletes from each heat and the best 2 fastest time clocked will compete in the finals.
For events 1500m and above, will be contested at the final stage
High Jump (Men) - The height of the bar will be set at 1.60 meters for practice. For the competition the bar will be set at 1.70 meters and there on it will be raised not less than 2cm.
High Jump (Women) - The height of the bar will be set at 1.35 meters for practice. For the competition the bar will be set at 1.40 meters and there on it will be raised not less than 2cm.
Pole Vault (Men) - The height of the bar will be set at 3.55 meters for practice. For the competition the bar will be set at 3.60 meters and there on it will be raised not less than 5cm.
Pole Vault (Women) - The height of the bar will be set at 2.95 meters for practice. For the competition the bar will be set at 3.00 meters and there on it will be raised not less than 5cm.
The take off distance for the triple jump is as follows:
