Note: Coaches & athletes – Submit your competitions requirement here
Dear Coaches and Athletes,
As you know we have been competing in many overseas invitational and Open competitions in 2011. We roughly know when these competitions are usually scheduled and we all look forward to them.
But for all these overseas competitions we can only act when we receive their actual letter of invitation. The invitation will confirm the competition dates and also the quota places of athletes and coaches given to us. Then we publish these on our website and/or email you to keep you informed and to seek your intention to compete or to skip it.
We would like to prepare ourselves earlier and not react only upon receiving the letter of invites, We want to also let you and your coach plan your competition calendar, both local and overseas, in such a way so that it can help you to challenge and improve your performance to qualify for any major competition that is scheduled in 2012.
We have identified a few probable overseas competitions for 2012 and we need you to express your interest to us by 31 January 2012, your interest based on your training and competition program, the competitions you are targeting. Please email to Jin Long (email) or Dr Valerie Obiko (email) for your competition of your choice for us to monitor the selection.
Each National Senior Team athlete will be limited to 3 overseas meets per year and each National Junior & Youth athlete will be limited to 2 overseas meets per year, if such meets with your events are available.
All members selected for such overseas competition will be endorsed and fully funded by SAA.
Once we receive the letter of invite, we will publish it on SAA website and also will email those who have registered their interest with SAA.
The selection will take place to nominate the number of athletes for the competition. If the competition format does include the Youth & Junior category, SAA would also like to select the Youth & Junior for the competition as well.
The final quota for all athletes will also be made known in SAA website and to those coaches and athletes who registered for the particular Meet.
All final nominations and selections will be based on the quota given by the host country. We will rank you using your best result according to the IAAF 2011 points table. Your ranking will be submitted to the TRAINING & SELECTION COMMITTEE for consideration to be selected.
Athletes not nominated/selected can appeal through their Club to SAA for sanction to compete in the competition (for Selected Overseas Meets only) They will represent their clubs and they will have to do their own booking of air ticket and room and board arrangement with their clubs. SAA will provide sanction letter and assist to inform and submit the entry list for such SAA sanctioned athletes to the organizer.
The final confirmation for participation will be from the host country.
