The Singapore athletics fraternity has sent its largest contingent in recent memory, 40-member strong Masters athletes to the 2012 Asia Masters Athletics Championships which is currently being held in Taipei, Taiwan from 2nd to the 7th of November.

SAA President Mr. Tang Weng Fei himself is in Taiwan, not only as a supporter, but a participant. He is slated to run the men 100 metres and 110 metres hurdles event in the Men 55 age group category.

SAA and its stakeholder is sending a strong message that the association working hand-in-hand with the Singapore Masters Association has interest to host the 2016 edition of the Games in Singapore.

By then the Singapore Sports Hub would be completed and it would play venue for the Championships.

If successful in its bid, this would be the fourth time Singapore play host for the prestigious Masters regional competition. It last hosted the event back in 1992.
